Introduction AMABIENTE

We met Regine Trenkle from AMABIENTE for an interview.

AMABIENTE 's motto is "for more light on earth". This is to be understood in both senses. We want to make the world a little more beautiful with stylish, luminous products. Good working conditions for all, fair trade and sustainably grown raw materials are part of our philosophy. Our exclusive production is located in Europe and is still family run.

The design candle brand AMABIENTE stands for puristic and sustainable design. Color and form are in the foreground. Since 2003 AMABIENTE brings the well-known CLASSIC square candles and other extraordinary stick candles, object candles and scented candles with matching candlesticks into the living rooms of design-oriented people. As a Swiss company with European manufacturing, AMABIENTE's goal is to fill the world with a little more light.

Tell us something about yourself: Who are you? How would you describe yourself?
I am Regine Trenkle, the founder of AMABIENTE Designcandles. I founded AMABIENTE in 2003 with two partners.

My personal interests are varied, I love colors and I can forget myself in the beauty of nature. The request to take over an Austrian arts and crafts studio came at the right time. I saw the opportunity to develop a design brand in the interior sector and now we are almost 20 years old!

What inspires you?
A candle is not just a candle. My aspiration is to conjure bright flames, sensual warmth and unforgettable moments in the homes of many people.

What does design mean to you?
As soon as an object can exert an attraction on people, it becomes design. The style can vary, we are fascinated by Bauhaus, minimalism and timeless shapes. They are so simple and yet so versatile.

What are your requirements for a product?
We want to overcome the common standards of 08/15 candles. AMABIENTE design candles stand out from the average with their clear shapes, their materials, their structures, their haptics and their brilliant colors. This is our contribution to valuable design: to create something special out of an everyday product.

What is particularly important to you when choosing colors and materials?
It's like music, the tones have to harmonize or create a tension.

How would you describe your creative process?
It's like yoga flow, everything has to flow. If it doesn't want to, we better take a break. What drives me is our loyal fan community, who love our candles and don't want to imagine their everyday life without them. That's so nice and actually makes us a little proud too.

What does working with 1991 mean to you?
It's fantastic to find a platform for like-minded people. Of course, we are very happy to be part of the 1991 community.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
People would like to think that we are just a niche product. Who needs candles to live? And yet, there is so much passion in our work that we love to share with our candle lovers. We appreciate this love for our products and thank you very much for it.

Thank you, Regine, for your time and the exciting insight.
